Christmas was interesting. Recently our GE oven's center tri-pane glass shattered while the oven was preheating. So, this year I made Cornish hens in our small convection toaster oven. Since the in-laws didn't visit this year, it worked out well. Sure it was a small and an unimpressive meal, but it was stress-free and wonderful in my eyes. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that our oven broke before the holidays. Or maybe I'm just hopped up on Queen Anne dark chocolate cordial cherries.
Santa was good to the kids. Juju got a lot of hand-me-down toys but we felt that she was still young and wouldn't know the difference. She is in love with her "new" pink kitchen that doesn't have a faucet... because over the years in storage, somehow that popped off. I really need to get it together because in a couple of years that is not going to fly. A kitchen without a faucet. What is a girl to do?
On the other hand, if you are a guy and you want to know how to make your wife/girl happy, listen up: Earlier in the year our family went shopping. I saw a necklace that I really liked and showed Jeff. On Christmas Jeff handed me a box. In the box was the same necklace I had pointed out way back when. I was floored. Sure the necklace was beautiful, but it meant so much more that he actually remembered that I had fawned over it.His secret? (Jeff told me after the fact.) He took a picture of it with iPhone. The iPhone kept the location of the picture so he was able to remember where to return to get it!
